The "Armenia" Faction will not participate in the voting on the election of the speaker of the newly elected National Assembly (NA), the opposition faction’s leader Anna Grigoryan announced at Monday’s session of NA.
"On behalf of the ‘Armenia’ opposition faction, I would like to announce that we will not participate in the closed voting," Grigoryan said.
The only candidate nominated for that position of the speaker of the new NA is Ruben Rubinyan, a 36-year-old MP from the ruling Civil Contract Party, who was one of the deputy speakers in the previous parliament, and until recently was Armenia's special representative in the negotiations on the normalization of relations with Turkey.
