Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in an interview with Anadolu Agency that the defense agreement concluded by Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia provides for a mutual defense mechanism analogous to NATO Article 5.

Fidan said that within the framework of the new alliance, it is planned to create a council of ministers similar to the one operating in NATO, as well as a general secretariat, which will be based in Saudi Arabia.

According to the minister, Egypt may join the agreement in the future. To do so, as Fidan noted, it is necessary to resolve a number of technical issues.
