UN experts strongly condemned the rise in attacks on Palestinian civilians in July, describing the developments as a “sharp deterioration of an already catastrophic human rights situation,” and said that “the genocide is continuing unabated.”

They condemned the expansion of the so-called “Yellow Line” and the demolition of buildings, calling these actions “a violent reshaping of the geography of illegally occupied Gaza through coercion and population displacement.” Stating that “there are no safe places left in Gaza,” the experts noted that in July alone Israeli forces killed at least 160 Palestinians, bringing the total number of those killed since last October’s ceasefire to more than 1,200.

In the occupied West Bank, the experts expressed deep regret over the deaths of at least 14 Palestinians in July and condemned the surge in settler violence — including four killings in the village of Tal on July 24. According to them, “settler terror is carried out under the protection of, and often with the participation of, the Israeli occupation forces.”

Referring to the 2024 International Court of Justice ruling that the Israeli occupation is unlawful, the experts condemned the fact that Israel is “being allowed to accelerate precisely the actions that the Court found unlawful” and warned that states assisting Israel are “themselves violating international law.”
