Within the framework of the TRIPP project, Azerbaijani specialists have already conducted analyses on the territory of Armenia and even determined the places where power transmission line pylons can be installed, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced, local media report.

According to him, Baku expects that the Armenian side will not delay the resolution of this issue, since an additional source of electricity may be needed first of all by Armenia.

Aliyev noted that today the main source of energy in Armenia remains the nuclear power plant, the management of which, according to him, is not in the hands of the Armenian side.

He expressed confidence that “the plant is outdated and poses a potential threat to the entire region,” although IAEA specialists had emphasized during their recent visit that the operation of this plant does not pose any threat.

"Azerbaijan and Turkey have repeatedly expressed concern about this in various international forums. The operation period of the [Armenian] nuclear power plant cannot be extended indefinitely, and sooner or later the plant will have to be closed. In that case, Armenia may face a serious energy crisis, so the presence of an additional source of energy supply will be beneficial for it," the Azerbaijani leader noted.
