The Anti-Corruption Committee has confirmed the report on Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA) former MP Martun Grigoryan's arrest, and informed on what grounds Grigoryan was detained.

"In response, we confirm that within the framework of a criminal proceeding initiated by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee on an electoral crime case, M. G. [i.e. Martun Grigoryan], a candidate for MP on the [electoral] list of the [opposition] Prosperous Armenia Party, involved as a defendant in the same proceeding, has been arrested in order to present him to court for the purpose of applying detention as a preventive measure," the Anti-Corruption Committee told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Earlier, we reported that lawyer Arsen Babayan had stated the following: "Martun Grigoryan, an MP of the previous RA NA convocation, was detained a short while ago for court appearance. The arrest warrant was issued by the investigator of the Anti-Corruption Committee. At the moment, no other information from the criminal proceeding is known."
