The court has returned the lawsuit of the former head of the Office of the Representative of Armenia on International Legal Matters, member of the opposition Wings of Unity party Liparit Drmeyan against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, according to the DataLex judicial information system of Armenia.

The court noted several shortcomings in the basis for returning the lawsuit: the lawsuit did not indicate Drmeyan's patronymic, as well as the address of his place of registration, and copies of the lawsuit and the attached documents were sent to the registration address of PM Pashinyan.

"However, it is a more than obvious fact that the defendant's [i.e. Pashinyan’s] registration address is not at the same time the latter's actual residence and notification address. Therefore, it turns out that the address for notification was not indicated in the claim, and the submitted receipt cannot serve as proper evidence confirming that the copy of the claim and copies of the attached documents were sent to the defendant,” the court added.

Also, the court assessed Drmeyan’s claim as “unclear and uncertain.” Drmeyan demands that Pashinyan be obliged to “publicly deny in the same manner and with the same publicity” several information specified in the lawsuit. According to the court’s assessment, such wording does not make it clear with sufficient clarity what specific information is required to be denied. The court emphasized that it is not authorized to choose or formulate the claim instead of the plaintiff.

Liparit Drmeyan had applied to the court with a request to deny the information considered slander.

During a press briefing on July 30, PM Pashinyan had announced that he was filing a report about a crime. Referring to Drmeyan, he had said that the Electric Networks of Armenia company, formerly managed by opposition Strong Armenia movement leader and businessman Samvel Karapetyan, had a source in the Armenian government.
