Arpine Sargsyan, Minister of Internal Affairs Armenia, on Monday visited Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport to get familiarized with the preparations for the introduction of e-gate at the airport.

The minister was briefed on the infrastructure solutions necessary for the installation, operation, and maintenance of e-gate, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In parallel with the use of Armenian biometric passports, it is planned to introduce e-gate at Armenian border checkpoints.

e-gate is an automated and contactless border crossing system that will enable quick border crossing without border guard intervention by scanning a passport, automatically perform personal identification, speed up border control, and reduce waiting time at the Armenian border crossing.

The phases of implementation of this system, organizing of the respective work, and ensuring the necessary conditions for the effective and uninterrupted operation of e-gate were also discussed.

On the same day, the Minister of Internal Affairs got acquainted with the construction work and technical re-equipment of an office of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, which is in the final phase in a mall in Yerevan.

The need to maintain quality standards of construction work and complete it within the established deadlines was emphasized.

Also, the minister gave additional instructions to ensure further efficiency.

The design and logistical solutions of these offices are based on the "one window" principle, which will enable reducing queues and accumulations, administrative complications, and considerably saving people’s time.
