Genesis has unveiled its new flagship electric GV90 crossover, which should bring the South Korean brand into the real luxury car market and compete with the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan, reports Autocar.

At almost 5.3 meters long, the new model has become the largest car in Genesis' history. The GV90 is comparable in size to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the extended version of the Bentley Bentayga, and after entering the European market in 2027, it will become the largest electric car available in Europe.

Hyundai Motor Company’s design boss SangYup Lee, who co-designed the Bentley Bentayga in a previous career with the VW Group, called the GV90 a “status car,” and said it is “maybe our first true luxury car, as opposed to what you might call a ‘premium’ car”. The GV90 is built on a special electric eMP platform.

Thanks to a 3.245-meter wheelbase and a completely flat floor, its interior has a huge amount of space. Buyers will be able to choose a seven-seater version or a four-seater Neolun configuration with two luxurious rear armchairs and rotating front seats.

One of the most unusual features of this vehicle will be its rear doors that open in the opposite direction of travel. In the top version, there will be no visible central pillar between the front and rear doors.

In order to maintain the rigidity of the body and ensure the highest level of safety, engineers had to significantly strengthen the structure. The interior is designed to create the atmosphere of a private jet: natural stone, wood, and cashmere wool are used here.

The Bang & Olufsen audio system consists of 25 speakers and can simulate the acoustics of such venues as the Boston Symphony Hall and the Wembley Stadium. A 25-inch projection display is installed in front of the driver, and the central screen of the multimedia system has a diagonal of 23.6 inches. When parked, it can be raised, turning into a 24.6-inch screen for watching videos.

The electric car will have a 123.5 kWh battery and two electric engines with a total capacity of 648 horsepower. The declared range reaches 500 km. Thanks to the 800-volt architecture, the battery can be charged with a power of up to 350 kW. It is charged from 10% to 80% in about 22 minutes.

Sales in South Korea will begin next month, and the model will be released on the European market in the first half of 2027. The price has not yet been officially announced, but orders will open from approximately 115 thousand euros. Thus, the GV90 will become the most expensive car from Genesis.
