BERLIN. - The new French President Francois Hollande has called on Tuesday to adopt a policy which will stimulate growth in the sick Euro zone, CNN reports.

“I said that my wish is that the growth was not just a phrase but a reality,” Francois Hollande announced at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. “Without growth we will not be able to do what we want, we will not be able to achieve the goals we want and to reduce the debt and deficit.”

As it was expected, Francois Hollande’s approach affects the policy in Afghanistan, as well as in Turkey and the Middle East. Hollande must yet state his disposition regarding foreign policy.

Relations between Turkey and France were strained because of the apparent disposition of Sarkozy against Turkey becoming a member of the European Union. During Sarkozy’s presidency a bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide was adopted (and later banned by French Constitutional Council), which also caused anger in Ankara.

Some experts think that Hollande will show more flexibility in regard of relations with Turkey, CNN reports.
