The third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, has also been charged within the framework of the criminal proceedings being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Committee against second President Robert Kocharyan on charges of abuse of power or official authority or influence resulting from them by an official or exceeding of authority, the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office issued a statement, which, in particular, noted that on Monday, the prosecutor initiated public criminal prosecution against the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, for abuse of official authority, receiving a bribe in a particularly large amount, and laundering money in a particularly large amount.

The prosecutor has initiated public criminal prosecution against nine more individuals, including Sedrak Kocharyan, the son of Armenia’s second president, former defense minister Serzh Sargsyan, former prime minister, the late Andranik Margaryan, former mayor of Yerevan Gagik Beglaryan, Samvel Mayrapetyan, a partner in Local Developers LLC, as well as Aramayis Vorskanyan, the head of construction company Aygedzor LLC, his wife, and two daughters.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that today at around 7am, law enforcement officers raided the house of opposition MP Levon Kocharyan, while his father, second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, was taken by investigative bodies to the Anti-Corruption Committee. Later, it became known that Robert Kocharyan and his eldest son, Sedrak Kocharyan, were detained.

In addition, also early this morning, tax authorities of Armenia sealed the Yerevan office of Toyota.

Investigative and procedural actions are being carried out at Orange Fitness club, Play City entertainment center, and in the directors' homes within the framework of criminal proceedings. The Kocharyan family has shares in these companies.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday had instructed the law enforcement to deprive second President Robert Kocharyan and third President Serzh Sargsyan of their property.
