Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan on Thursday received Omar Mohammed Hamdan AlShamsi, Co-founder and CEO of Watermelon Ecosystem, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the economy ministry of Armenia.

AlShamsi presented the activities of Watermelon Ecosystem, founded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which brings together restaurants, food suppliers, manufacturers, and farmers, offering digital procurement and supply chain management solutions.

During the meeting, the possibilities of implementing cooperation and investment programs, expanding export opportunities for Armenian products, as well as establishing contacts between Armenian producers and buyers and distributors in the UAE and other international markets were discussed.

Also, Gevorg Papoyan presented the investments made in Armenia's agricultural sector in recent years and the production capacities that meet international standards, and emphasized the importance of expanding Armenia’s access to international markets, especially for the country’s small and medium-sized producers.

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding, which will create an opportunity for conducting long-term and sustainable exports of fresh fruits and vegetables from Armenia.

Accordingly, it is planned to start exporting fresh fruits and vegetables next month, initially in the amount of up to 40 tons per week.
