The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has called the US attack on the Iranian island of Larak a violation of Iran’s sovereignty.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran issued a statement… describing the attack as a violation of the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Press TV reports.

Earlier, Fars news agency reported that several explosions had occurred on the Iranian island of Larak in the Strait of Hormuz.

Separately, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported, citing an anonymous American official, that the US had struck what was believed to be Iran’s launch sites in Larak.

Press TV later reported that Iran had fired missiles in response at US ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as US military bases in West Asia.

And the US Central Command claims that it struck Iran to prevent its forces from minelaying in the Strait of Hormuz.
