TASS: Armenia’s Pashinyan becomes only CIS leader not to speak in Russian at SCO Plus summit

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan became the only CIS leader not to speak in Russian at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s SCO Plus summit in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, TASS reports.

In particular, the leaders of Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan spoke in Russian, whereas Pashinyan spoke in Armenian—using the services of an interpreter.

The meeting’s other participants representing other countries and international organizations, on the other hand, spoke either in their national languages or in English.
