Gagik Khachatryan, former Minister of Finance and former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, has been remanded in custody.

The Anti-Corruption Court has decided to place Khachatryan under pretrial detention for two months, the court told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The motion to remand him in custody was granted at dawn Wednesday, and the respective court session had continued throughout the night.

Gagik Khachatryan was arrested on Tuesday. He was taken to the court on a stretcher to consider the motion for his pretrial detention. Later, footage were posted of him being taken to court.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia informed that investigative and procedural actions were carried out in the homes of Gagik Khachatryan and his son, as well as in the offices and branches of about 21 companies affiliated with them, within the framework of a criminal proceeding launched in connection with receiving bribes and laundering money in particularly large amounts.
