On June 5, the court had remanded Yerevan’s former mayor and Armenia's former minister of transport and communications, Gagik Beglaryan, in custody for one month.

Subsequently, his one-month pretrial detention period had expired and the investigative body again had filed a petition with the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia, and the latter had extended Beglaryan’s pretrial detention for two months. His aforesaid two-month pretrial detention period also had expired.

On Wednesday, he was again taken from the National Security Service detention center to the Anti-Corruption Court, and the latter extended his pretrial detention for another two months, Armlur.am reports.

Gagik Beglaryan is charged with abuse of official power, and money laundering of particularly large scale.
