YEREVAN. – Food safety inspections will start in Armenia’s regions on May 21, Director Abraham Bakhchagulyan of the State Service on Food Safety informed during a press conference on Friday. 

In his words, the food safety issue is more troubling in the regions than in the capital, Yerevan.

As per Bakhchagulyan, some food items—specifically the ice cream market—will be inspected on a regular basis and in parallel with the start of the summer heat.    

In addition, the Service has designed a risk-based inspection system, according to which dairy and meat products and baby food will be considered the food groups with the greatest health hazard.
