Washington will step up diplomatic pressure on Tehran in the coming days by proposing a United Nations (UN) Security Council resolution demanding that Iran immediately eliminate violations and restore access to nuclear inspectors, Bloomberg reports.

According to a copy of a two-page document seen by Bloomberg, the US resolution demands that Iran immediately eliminate violations and allow inspections to ensure the non-diverted use of nuclear materials in Iran.

The plans are expected to be announced at the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) board of governors meeting in Vienna, which began on Monday and will last until Friday.

China and Russia, however, are unlikely to support new measures against Tehran.

At the same time, IAEA director general Rafael Grossi confirmed that their inspectors cannot enter Iran's nuclear facilities.

In turn, Tehran stated that calls to resume inspections are meaningless against the backdrop of ongoing military strikes, as the situation on the ground remains extremely dangerous.

Iran's mission to the UN stated on X that the IAEA should first of all call on the "aggressors"—the US and Israel—to stop attacks on Iran’s protected peaceful nuclear facilities, or threats against them.

According to the mission, as long as the UN nuclear agency and the UN Security Council do not fulfill their responsibilities, Iran has the full right to defend its national interests on its own.
