The return of the US to the fulfillment of its obligations under the Islamabad memorandum can contribute to the settlement of the situation in the Middle East, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during a telephone conversation with his Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi.

The solution is simple. The return of the American side to the fulfillment of its obligations and the preservation of the signature under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding will create conditions for a return to normalcy, Araghchi said, the Iranian foreign ministry stated.

Also, the Iranian Foreign minister told Motegi about the final phases of negotiations between Iran and Oman on the Strait of Hormuz, and reported considerable progress in consultations on determining a temporary route for ships to pass through the strait.
