We plan to continue the work on extending the operation period of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant until 2036, and in the future, also until 2041. Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) director general Eduard Martirosyan on Wednesday stated this during a seminar on nuclear energy.

Martirosyan informed that separate work was already underway to extend the operation period of the ANPP until 2041.

He reminded that the ANPP’s power unit produces 30-40% of all electricity in Armenia.

"This is significant to us not only from an energy security perspective, but also from a social perspective, as it produces cheap electricity for the end consumer," added Martirosyan.
