Opposition Strong Armenia party chairman and businessman Samvel Karapetyan has filed a civil lawsuit against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The lawsuit is based on some passages in Pashinyan's remarks regarding Karapetyan during the 2026 parliamentary election campaign, according to the DataLex judicial information system of Armenia.
In particular, Karapetyan has asked the court to obligate Pashinyan to publicly apologize to him for the insult he had uttered on May 29.
Also, Pashinyan must publicize the text of the apology live on air, via video recording.
And as compensation for the insult, Samvel Karapetyan demands confiscating from Nikol Pashinyan 3 million drams (about $8,260), as well as the amount of legal expenses—consisting of the state duty and reasonable attorney's fees.
The lawsuit was received by the court on Wednesday and was registered with the Yerevan civil court.
