Suzuki Motor has updated its Baleno hatchback, replacing its four-cylinder engine with a three-cylinder one, adding safety systems, and slightly refreshing its appearance, Drom.ru reports.

This model is well known in India and is produced only there, but is also supplied for export. The main change in the updated Suzuki Baleno is the replacement of the 1.2-liter 89-horsepower four-cylinder atmospheric engine with an 82-horsepower three-cylinder (70 hp on compressed natural gas) with a “start-stop” system and a significantly higher compression ratio - 13.9 instead of the previous 9.3.

The three-cylinder engine has been produced since 2023; initially, it was installed on the Suzuki Swift, a model one class below the Baleno. With the new engine, the Suzuki Baleno is complemented with a 5-speed manual transmission. In the case when engine fuel system is designed only for gasoline, for an additional fee it is possible to get a 6-speed automated robotic transmission.

In the case of a dual-fuel power system, only “mechanics.” On export versions, the Suzuki Baleno is equipped with four-cylinder engines with an amount of 1.5 liters and a capacity of 106 horsepower, paired with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic hydromechanical transmission.

The updated Suzuki Baleno has made significant progress in terms of safety systems. The standard version includes six airbags, automatic brake hold when starting on an incline, a dynamic stabilization system, and tire pressure monitoring. In the maximum version, there is even adaptive cruise control.

The interior of the Suzuki Baleno has not changed noticeably, which is even good. All buttons and knobs, as before, have remained physical. The analog speedometer and tachometer were also preserved. What has been added: ventilation of the front seats, wireless charging of a mobile phone—and with the ability to cool, USB sockets, ventilation deflectors for rear passengers, and a Clarion audio system with six speakers.

But all this is an optional addition. The most striking feature of the updated Suzuki Baleno from the outside is the radiator grille, higher and wider than ever before, with an integrated platform for the license plate and a video camera for the adaptive cruise control system.
