YEREVAN. – The Amnesty International released a statement on DIY rock pub blast in downtown Yerevan, stressing the reaction by the state officials was simply shocking.

The Amnesty International statement claims that Armenian officials instead of condemning the incident, made homophobic statements and condoned violence towards LGBT community. The official response for the attack was simply shocking. Protection of the LGBT community is not concession but obligation based on international law, to which Armenia has committed herself.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am had earlier informed, young people broke the glass, threw in a container with gasoline and blew up the pub on May 8. The rock pub was popular among LGBT community.
