Over the course of one year, the European Commission has fully implemented only 11 of the 30 key initiatives announced by its president, Ursula von der Leyen. Another 11 initiatives have been partially implemented, and eight are still in the preparation phase, according to official documents posted on the European Commission website.

Among those left unfinished are initiatives in defense, energy, external border protection, and the fight against corruption. In particular, the European Union’s (EU) Eastern Flank Watch system has not yet been launched, and the strengthening of Frontex has not been completed.

In addition, new rules on the fight against organized crime have not been approved. The review of Europol's mandate has progressed further. The relevant draft law was submitted by the European Commission in June 2026, but it still needs to be passed by the EU Council and the European Parliament.

The package of measures to modernize Europe’s power grids also remains a law proposal. Some promises in labor market, housing, poverty, and the fight against corruption have not been fulfilled. But separate initiatives in gender equality, combating cyberbullying, animal husbandry, and affordable housing have been fully implemented.
