The European Parliament approved—by a vote of 583 in favor, 49 against, and 39 abstentions—the application of Autonomous Trade Measures (ATMs) for products manufactured in Armenia.

The European Commission of the European Union (EU) had previously proposed a similar initiative, aiming to increase the access of Armenian products to the EU market.

These ATMs are expected to strengthen economic cooperation between Armenia and the EU.

Armenian ambassador to Belgium and head of the mission of Armenia to the EU, Tigran Balayan, reflected on this decision and wrote as follows on X: “Loyal to its principles & steadfast in its position, the temple of European democracy — the European Parliament — has endorsed the EU Commission proposal to provide ATMs for #MadeInArmenia products. Another meaningful step for Armenia–EU partnership!”

Autonomous Trade Measures (ATMs) are temporary, unilateral trade rules adopted by the European Union to remove or reduce import duties and quotas for specific partner countries facing exceptional economic, political, or security pressures.
