A historic opportunity has been created for the South Caucasus to be associated with peace, stability, development, and regional cooperation instead of perennial conflicts, Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Guler said.

“In this context, Turkey welcomes the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington last year, as well as the positive steps taken in recent times towards peace, expressing the hope that a comprehensive and lasting peace will be established as soon as possible,” Guler added.

“Turkey supports efforts to complete the process based on an approach that will ensure its stability, strengthen regional security, and contribute to the peace and prosperity of all peoples in the region,” he said.

The Turkish minister noted that the Caucasus also does not need conflicts; it needs development and prosperity.
