Iran has expressed its support for the “Crossroads of Peace” project of Armenia; at the same time it believes that this crossroads implies West-East, as well as North-South movement. Iranian ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami stated this at a conference on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) regional transport project on Thursday.
“Just as Armenia responsibly supports this project and, within the framework of TRIPP, is trying to help Azerbaijan in establishing a land connection with [its] Nakhchivan [exclave] and is making efforts to establish peace, Azerbaijan should responsibly ensure the possibility of railway connection between Armenia and Iran via Nakhchivan.
“The creation of a railway connection between Yeraskh and Julfa can create new potential for Armenia, making it an important node connecting the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea,” the Iranian ambassador to Armenia noted.
