There was no discussion between Armenia’s officials and us on this issue, but we are confident that historical and cultural heritage belongs to all humanity. Iranian ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am, responding to a question about whether the Armenian authorities had contacted Iran to present the real facts about the Armenian Gandzasar and Dadivank churches after the controversial visit of several diplomats to Nagorno-Karabakh and the scandalous statements made by the Azerbaijani presidential aide.

“The fact that cultural heritage is preserved stems from the interests of all humanity. And if it is in danger, then it is a threat to all humanity. Regardless of which country this or that territory belongs to or is under the control of, historical values and cultural heritage must be preserved,” the Iranian ambassador to Armenia noted.
