Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir has urged Iran to try to rein in Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, referencing their mutual defense agreement with Riyadh, the Financial Times (FT) reports.

According to FT sources, Munir has repeatedly asked the Iranian leadership to provide assistance to stop Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and its energy infrastructure, citing Islamabad’s obligations to Riyadh, but without making any specific threats.

One of the FT sources added that Pakistan, which had deployed fighter jets to an air base in eastern Saudi Arabia in April, is in a difficult situation.
