US President Donald Trump announced at the UN General Assembly that since returning to the White House, he has managed to resolve eight wars, including the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“Since I took office, it has been my great honor to settle eight wars and, in so doing, become friendly with the leaders of many of those countries,” Trump said during his address in New York. The US president noted that many of those conflicts had lasted for years and even decades.

Trump said that his personal relationships with the heads of state, as well as trade, tariffs and the threat of tariffs, enabled him to reach agreements. “The reason I was able to make these settlements was the use of my relationships, very special relationships to this day, very special trade," the US president said. Among the conflicts listed in his speech, Trump noted the confrontation between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Speaking specifically about the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement, Trump made a reference to the assessments of the leaders of the two countries. According to the US president, the Azerbaijani president stated that Trump had performed a "miracle" in just six months. "It was an absolute miracle that nobody thought could be done," Trump quoted Aliyev as saying.

He quoted also Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who, according to Trump, had stated that the breakthrough achieved would not have been possible without the personal participation of the US president and his determination to achieve peace.

"The prime minister of Armenia said this breakthrough would simply not have been possible without President Trump's personal engagement and his resolute commitment to peace," the US leader said. Trump called the settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan one of the eight conflicts that, he claimed, he managed to resolve thanks to his diplomatic efforts.
