The operational life of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant is coming to an end, and we are currently making a decision about the next nuclear power plant. And in this regard, we are negotiating with various partners—the US, Russia, China, France, South Korea—and are looking for the best offer to launch the construction of a new nuclear power plant. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday stated this during a panel discussion of the Concordia Annual Summit held within the framework of the UN General Assembly session in New York.

When asked how he envisions the future of energy in Armenia, Pashinyan replied that with new technologies, Armenia has a good chance of becoming self-sufficient in terms of energy, since it has a huge solar resource and solar production capacities, which are developing very rapidly.

Now the most important topic is to form storage capacities, because until now Armenia had no storage capacities, but now it needs a large-scale storage capacity, and they are working in that direction, he added.
