Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has invited Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to the COP 31 World Leaders' Summit in Turkey, the Turkish presidential press service informed following the two politicians’ meeting in New York, Anadolu Agency reports.

The talks between Erdogan and Pashinyan took place at the Turkish House as part of the Turkish president’s visit to New York to attend the UN General Assembly session. The meeting was closed to the press and was also attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

According to the Turkish side’s statement, Erdogan stated that he supports the process of normalizing relations between Turkey and Armenia, particularly in bilateral trade and transport. According to him, it is important to maintain the positive dynamics in relations between the two countries.

Also, the Turkish president expressed satisfaction with the mutual steps taken within the framework of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Erdogan noted that the development of cooperation between Armenia and Turkey within the framework of international organizations also contributes to the process of normalizing bilateral relations.

In this context, he invited Pashinyan to the COP 31 World Leaders' Summit, which will be held in Antalya, Turkey, in November.
