India and Armenia are continuing to strengthen their rapidly expanding  defense relationship, with Indian military personnel now providing specialized training on the Indian Akash air defense system to Armenian troops within Armenia itself, Indian Defence Times reports.

The deployment of Indian officers to train Armenian personnel on the Akash air defense system demonstrates the growing trust between the armed forces of the two countries.

Indian military instructors are helping Armenian operators familiarize themselves with the system's capabilities, operational procedures, maintenance requirements, and tactical employment.

The Akash system is a medium-range mobile anti-aircraft missile system designed to defend against a variety of aerial threats, including aircraft, helicopters, drones, and cruise missiles.

In recent years, India and Armenia have expanded their defense cooperation to include military equipment supplies, training of servicemen, military exchanges, and specialized training.

Armenian officers have previously received training in India. In addition, Armenia has participated as an observer in India’s Tarang Shakti multinational air exercises.

Thus, the military cooperation between the two countries goes beyond arms procurement and includes broader military-technical and operational cooperation.
