Beijing wants to deepen cooperation with Washington in the coal industry, including by increasing the amount of American coal supplies in the coming years, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said.

According to the respective statement, as a result of trade and economic consultations, China and the US have agreed to include American coal imports to China in their mutual tariff reduction program.

The Chinese and US delegations have agreed that Chinese tariffs on American coal imports will be included in the mutual tariff reduction program on the basis of "30 billion dollars for 30 billion dollars," the statement added.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stressed that this will contribute to the growth of coal imports from the US to China in 2027 and 2028.

They hope that through joint efforts, bilateral cooperation in the coal sector will continue to deepen, ensuring mutually beneficial results, the ministry added.

The import of American coal, as noted by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, will be an important supplement to China's domestic market and provide the US coal industry with stable income and jobs, contributing to the stabilization and expansion of bilateral trade.
