An official reception was organized in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Armenia's independence, Ermenihaber.am reports.

The event brought together representative of the president of Iraqi Kurdistan, Masoud Barzani, the governor of Erbil, senior members of the political, diplomatic and spiritual circles, as well as representatives of the business circles of the Iraqi Kurdish autonomous region. Spiritual leaders of Armenian and other Christian communities also participated.

The guests met with diplomatic representatives and employees of the consulate general of Armenia.

During the reception, the importance of historical and cultural ties between Iraqi Kurdistan and Armenia was emphasized. Also, the parties stressed the need for further development of bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation.
