British brand Range Rover has introduced the electric version of its Range Rover Sport, reports Autocar.
The new Sport Electric has two electric engines with a total power of 542 horsepower, a battery with a capacity of 118.5 kWh, and a travel range of up to 602 km. Prices in the UK start at 109,810 pounds sterling.
Technically, the model is almost identical to the recently introduced Range Rover Electric. At the same time, the manufacturer expects that the Sport Electric will combine the dynamics of a powerful sports SUV with the comfort, luxury, and cross-country ability of Range Rover.
The car accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, approximately at the level of modern high-performance V8 Range Rover Sport versions.
At the same time, engineers have paid special attention to handling. The large battery is located under the floor of the body, thanks to which the center of gravity of this electric car is lower than that of the internal combustion engine versions. Also, Range Rover says the Sport Electric body is the most rigid in the family.
The equipment includes an active system that suppresses body roll, adaptive suspension, and a fully controlled chassis with rear-wheel steering. According to the manufacturer, this should enable the car to combine sharper handling on the road with the capabilities of a full-fledged SUV.
The battery uses an 800-volt electrical architecture and supports charging with a power of up to 350 kW. The accumulator is completely sealed, so the electric car, like other Range Rover models, can overcome deep water obstacles.
Outwardly, the Sport Electric is almost indistinguishable from the version with an internal combustion engine. This electric car can be recognized by a slightly modified radiator grille and special wheels.
Its sales have already started, and the first cars will be delivered to buyers next year.
In addition, a more expensive Autobiography trim and a limited First Edition series will be available.
