Armenia and the Armenian people must correctly assess the historical responsibility and take steps to ensure peace. Khalaf Khalafov, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments, stated this during the first Media Forum of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku.

Khalafov noted that Azerbaijan, having overcome difficult times, has restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty on the basis of the norms and principles of international law.

“However, each of us must ensure the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. At the end of the second Karabakh war [in 2020], the president of Azerbaijan proposed to Armenia to establish lasting peace in the region and took all practical steps to advance the peace process. Armenia and the Armenian people must correctly assess this historical responsibility and take steps to achieve peace," added the representative of the Azerbaijani president.
