The Armenian government must bring public confidence in peace to the final result; that is, the signing and ratification of the peace agreement with Azerbaijan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the government.
According to him, economic activeness and real estate market indicators in Armenia testify to the optimism of people.
“The economy is largely linked to people’s expectations and moods. Economic indicators express confidence in peace, despite the panic assessments circulating in the news,” the Armenian premier said.
He assured that peace with Azerbaijan has already become a reality, but it is not yet fully institutionalized. Pashinyan is convinced that the Armenian government must justify people’s expectations and bring the peace process to completion.
“We have reached an intermediate phase. But it is an intermediate phase, not a final phase. And we must move towards the final destination,” he added.
In the context of the need to sign and ratify the peace agreement with Azerbaijan, the Armenian PM touched also upon the TRIPP project, border delimitation, unblocking of regional roads, the process with Turkey, the North-South motorway, and the Armenian government’s “Crossroads of Peace” concept.
Nikol Pashinyan called on the members of the Armenian government to shape political messages and strategies around this very priority, focusing on the core problems and practical solutions.
The premier added that the “daily information noise” should not distract the Armenian authorities from the implementation of the main objective.
