Azerbaijani serviceman Nasimi Musayev, who had "disappeared" in the Lachin direction on September 26, illegally crossed the border of Armenia and was detained there, Azerbaijani media report, citing a statement from the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office.
Following Musayev's disappearance, search operations were carried with the participation of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office announced. The Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor's Office found out that the serviceman had left his military unit, after which a criminal case was opened on this fact.
Later, it turned out that Musayev was in Armenia and had been detained by Armenian law enforcement agencies. The Azerbaijani side reported on contacts with the Armenian authorities to clarify the circumstances of his whereabouts and detention.
Earlier on Thursday, the aforesaid Azerbaijani soldier illegally entered residents’ home in Shaghat village of Armenia's Syunik Province and shot a local resident woman in the leg, before being arrested. A criminal case has been initiated, according to the National Security Service of Armenia.
