French police fired tear gas at a demonstration by high school and university students near a university campus in Strasbourg, BFMTV reports. This was how the police responded to the fireworks thrown at them.
The protests of high school students in France had begun last week in the capital Paris and have spread across the country.
The demonstrators are protesting against a demanding class schedule, teacher shortages, and other problems in the country’s education sector. In some places, these demonstrations have escalated into riots and clashes with police.
Amid the radicalization of the protests, National Education Minister Edouard Geffray announced that classes would be moved to a remote format in some education institutions.
