The Norwegian government is temporarily banning the use of artificial intelligence (AI) glasses in a number of public places, public broadcaster NRK reported.

“I am worried that new, powerful technology is being introduced where people risk being photographed, filmed or audio-recorded without knowing it,” Digitalization and Public Governance Minister Torgeir Micaelsen said.

The Norwegian government will appoint an expert group to advise on a permanent national regulation of AI glasses.

Parks, beaches, museums, shopping malls, amusement parks, children’s facilities and events, as well as healthcare and education centers equipped with changing rooms and showers, will be subject to this ban.
