Yerevan and Baku are interested in finding out the fate of missing persons. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan stated this during Wednesday’s question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia.

Sona Ghazaryan, an MP from the ruling “Civil Contract” Faction of the NA, asked about the statements of the Azerbaijani president and the head of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, according to which Armenia should cooperate with Baku in finding out the fate of missing Azerbaijanis.

According to the lawmaker, numerous media outlets in Armenia have presented this news as “Baku’s new demand.”

In response, Mirzoyan stressed that there can be no talk of any demand, since both Armenia and Azerbaijan are interested in resolving the issue of missing persons.

According to him, the Armenian side also has missing persons.

“The clarification of the fate of the missing persons and the release of detained persons is a topic that is constantly in the focus of the attention of Armenia’s authorities,” the foreign minister said.
