President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola and Irish Minister of State for European Affairs and Defense Thomas Byrne have signed a legislative act establishing temporary trade privileges for Armenian goods. The signing ceremony was also attended by Bogdan Zdrojewski, the European Parliament rapporteur on Armenia.

The respective regulation envisages the elimination of European Union (EU) customs duties on a wide range of Armenian goods for a period of two years. The privileges apply to more than 300 product groups, including processed agricultural products, textiles, and footwear. Also, the document establishes safeguard mechanisms for EU producers.

The regulation will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will enter into force the day after its publication.

The legislative procedure was carried out in an accelerated manner, from July 2 to October 7.
