German automaker BMW has introduced the most powerful version of its new electric iX3 crossover, the M60 xDrive, reports Autocar.
This car has a more efficient powertrain and a number of sporty M-series improvements, while maintaining a range of almost 753 kilometers. With a total power of 604 horsepower and an all-wheel drive system, its two electric engines develop 645 lb-ft of torque, or approximately 875 Nm.
For comparison, the power of the 50 xDrive version is 462 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque. The M60 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, exactly one second less than the 50 xDrive. The top speed has increased to 240 km/h. At the same time, the increase in power has had almost no effect on the range.
According to official data, the iX3 M60 can travel up to 753 km on a single charge, compared to 800 km for the iX3 50 xDrive. Moreover, the electric M60 accelerates to 100 km/h half a second faster than its closest gasoline-powered equivalent, the 437-horsepower BMW X3 M50.
The M60's battery capacity is 108.7 kWh, and its maximum charging power has remained at the level of 400 kW. The standard equipment of the sports version includes the adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, M Sport and M Sport Plus driving modes, variable sports steering, and an M sports differential.
The M60 differs from the regular iX3 in external details also: this car has new mirror housings, black trim elements, yellow night lights, and 21-inch M alloy wheel rims. Ten-way sports seats and a new M Sport steering wheel are installed in the cabin. The price of this electric crossover has not yet been announced. Orders will open early next year.
