Large-scale investments in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure are helping to keep global economic growth at around 3 percent, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, stated during the “Small AI, Real Jobs” meeting.

These investments are bringing significant benefits to equipment suppliers based in many Asian countries, such as Thailand, Georgieva said.

According to her, the AI investment boom has become a demand and investment shock that can boost economic growth in developed Asian countries by 0.5-1 percentage point and in developing economies in the region by 0.2-0.8 percentage points.

It is this shift to a higher work regime that is enabling the global economy to grow at a rate of around 3 percent, despite the dampening effect of the shock caused by energy supply disruptions, the IMF chief added.
