Robert Abisoghomonyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia, has no information about whether representatives of Turkey and Azerbaijan will attend the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) to be held in Yerevan, from October 19 to 30.
In a conversation with reporter, he said that the respective registration is carried out by the secretariat, and the Armenian side only knows the general data of those registered: they are more than 13 thousand, but there is no more specific information.
When asked whether it was possible to limit the costs of this event, which will cost hundreds of millions of drams for the Armenian state budget, Abisoghomonyan stated that it is necessary to maintain UN standards. Moreover, the deputy minister expressed confidence that the costs will be reimbursed, since the COP opens up great opportunities for Armenia—both in terms of bilateral contacts and in political and economic terms.
Regarding the debates on the TRIPP project in the National Assembly of Armenia, the deputy minister said that the process is underway. Without specifying specific dates, he expressed the opinion that the agreement will be submitted by the end of October.
Also, the reporters asked the deputy minister about the construction of Armenia’s new nuclear power plant, to which Abisoghomonyan quoted Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's words that there is no decision on the nuclear power plant yet, all proposals are being studied, and there are many of them on the market.
