Lusine Badalyan, an MP of the ruling majority “Civil Contract” Faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia (RA), was denied entry to Russia.
“Today, on October 14, I was planning to travel to Saint Petersburg to participate in the regular session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) Standing Committee on Social Policy and Human Rights to be held tomorrow.
As a member of the RA National Assembly delegation to the CIS IPA, I was supposed to participate in the work of the session, the agenda of which includes 16 matters,” Badalyan wrote on Facebook.
“However, I was denied entry to the Russian Federation, arguing that my entry there is prohibited. For what reason, it is unknown. It is a strange and worrying situation when a member of the national parliamentary delegation is not allowed to travel to the headquarters of an international parliamentary organization to perform her official duties and participate in the work of the committee,” the Armenia ruling force’s lawmaker added.
