In Armenia’s capital Yerevan, the Iranian president will attend the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

Baghaei said that this event includes negotiations and exchange of views with the leaders of a number of countries, who will also participate in it.

The Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson said that Iran was one of the first countries to sign the CBD and officially joined it in 1996.

Over the past three decades, the Islamic Republic has played a significant role in developing mechanisms and rules related to biodiversity and environmental protection, Baghaei added.
