The deputy minister explained that digitizing geological information would involve more than simply transferring existing materials into electronic format. The data will undergo in-depth processing and will also be made available in foreign languages so that potential investors can use it. This will allow investors to access the initial information they need to assess opportunities and then take further steps in areas that interest them.
Vardanyan emphasized that digitizing geological information is not limited to creating a database. The ministry intends to digitize all relevant processes, including permit issuance. The deputy minister acknowledged that the current “one-stop shop” principle is not working fully and that its implementation faces problems. Digital tools will also be introduced to monitor companies’ compliance with their contractual obligations. In addition, information will be exchanged through dedicated platforms.
Vardanyan believes these measures will significantly increase transparency in the mining industry and help attract potential investors.
