A school bus carrying 35 elementary and middle school students has completely burned down in Germany. None of the children, however, were injured in the incident, Bild reports.
“The children in the back of the bus suddenly smelled smoke. They immediately reported it to the driver,” a police spokesperson said.
The incident occurred in Bamberg, town.
During the ride, the children smelled a burning smell in the cabin and reported it to the driver. The latter responded in time and helped all the schoolchildren leave the vehicle.
Shortly after the children were evacuated, the bus caught fire.
By the time the firefighters arrived, the fire had already completely engulfed the bus. They decided to let the bus burn down completely under controlled conditions.
According to a preliminary estimate, the material damage from the incident amounted to about 20,000 euros.
The news report, however, does not provide information about the causes of the fire.
