The territory of the Republic of Armenia is 29,743 square kilometers, our main task is to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and implement a complete border delimitation and demarcation of the 29,743 square-kilometer area in the future. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan on Monday told this to reporters.

He noted this in response to the question of whether the Armenian government was going to raise within—the framework of 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, underway in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan—the issue that Azerbaijanis, having invaded Armenia's Shikahogh reserve, are carrying out deforestation there, and, also, that Azerbaijan had closed the Berdzor corridor under false environmental arguments.

“Armenia will be within that border delimitation, and we will carry out all the work to preserve biodiversity, but beyond that border it will be outside the Republic of Armenia, therefore it will also be outside our interest. Every country has the right to decide what it does within its territory.

Everything that happens within the territory of Armenia is in the focus of the attention of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, nothing outside that territory is in the focus of our attention, because we are not going to carry out any action for the territories outside 29,743 square kilometers,” added the minister of economy of Armenia.
